2000 and date/great/fate/consumate
I was in the Guardian yesterday. There was a photo in the printed edition.
It’s just stopped raining after about 36 hours of non stop miserable wetness. A walk to Tish’s calls, I want to check on the bats before they come home, to make sure they haven’t eaten the house, each other or peed all over the floor. Kitty is ignoring me, I don’t know why, I think it’s punishment for Maya being here last night, she’s next to the bed staring at me in a way that suggests she may have had her brain removed.
I was doing some investigating into the family tree the other day. It turns out that I am related to this guy. A poet.
It’s an easy start to research the family name, as no one else has it, it really is just us. I love that. Christopher Androlia came over to USA from Milan as a teenager, he had 2 sons and 2 daughters. Bill was the eldest(my great grandfather) Frank was the other (Ron’s grandfather). Bill married Olive and she apparently added the i to Androla because she thought it made it sound better. So apart from my extention of the Androlias the rest of them all live in the states. My grandad Lou was from Pennsylvania, he married my gran who is English and so that’s why we are all here. So now there are Androlias in Pittsburgh, Malibu and there were some in Connecticut.
The part that I am most interested in is that one of my relatives was Cherokee Indian. I’m trying to work it out, I think it must have been Christophers wife, or perhaps her mother or father. Anyway so half of me is English and the rest is American/native american and some Italian.
Blue eyes, blonde hair. I honestly don’t think I could look more english if I tried.
Meanwhile my friend who I think is probably the most talented person I know, a creative genius, someone who gives me inspiration to get on and do my work, is sad. I sit and spend all this time worrying about my work, having huge confidence crisis and it seems absurd that the one person who I think is a supertalent is overwhelmed by their life too. Feel better Owl because I love you.
what? christopher androlia (i’ve never been able to figure out that “i” thing) & an indian wife? i tried, near end of his life, to get some info off my grandfather (frank, who lived to be 94) about his father — but what he relayed to me was the fact the man drank WINE, lots of wine, he served the whole family, kids included, wine, but watered down, & kept the good stuff for himself…i actually made it to milan in like 1973, but i was 19, & a college student, actually hitch-hiked to milan from lugano switzerland where college was, with 2 friends, & what i now recall seeing, what stuck, was beggars on the streets, thinking i wonder if any of them are my relatives…ANYWAYS, my grandfather had 2 boys, both early deaths, & 3 girls, tho actually 4 since a twin died at birth — since my dad’s death in 88, & after my grandfather died, i haven’t stayed in touch with the androla side of my family, oh slightly, but not really…so it’s a kick to hear of you, a bit of dna connection, yeah! email me if you like…oh, & hello…
oh yes, england, is that where you are? i have an old large photograph in old orignal frame (tho glass broke about 30 years ago during a move) of “uncle louie” (that’s how he was described to me) who died in WW1 i think as a member of the RAF — he was very young, not yet 20 — also an androla who was a bobbie came to u.s. on visit in the middle 70’s (at time i was a bartender in a strip-bar, so that’s where i took him & his rather shy wife for a night out), tho i forget his first name, but he moved up into canada & i’ve never from him since…oh, btw, i live in erie, about 120 miles north of pittsburgh, & i lived in ellport, about 40 miles north of pittsburgh, in my youth, a few blocks from my grandfather’s house — christopher bought a farm a few miles in another small town near there — but did move to ellport, & according to my grandfather, as a kid, remembered moonshine being made in their bathtub… — in archives on the messageboard website i wrote a brief bio — not much, but…
also, if you go to youtube & type in my name there’re are a buncha things…
